On location video: Shadows and Hills

On location with me near Schwangau, where I went one morning to photograph rolling hills and trees. I discovered this location by pure chance. I was looking at a weather report and I happened to see the picture from a nearby webcam. Which by the way are a very good way to scout locations. Anyway … enjoy …

  1. Terrific shots. Very interesting to see you set them up and your decision making process. I didn’t realise you were not a professional! Your photography certainly is. Out of interest, you say that the journey to this area near Hohenschwangau took two hours, where do you travel from? North of Munich? Best wishes and looking forward to your next video! Nicholas.

    1. Thank you Nicholas. I travel from east Munich, so it takes about 30 min to get to the right side (south west). The trip to that location is actually closer to around 1:40 but that’s too much detail for a video.

  2. You are every bit a professional photographer whose pictures are just as good and even better then those who make a living snapping pictures.

    1. Thanks David! I think I am somewhere between OK and good in photography (and I am not trying to be modest here, just trying to apply serious standards), but since I am not making a living (or a cent) of photography, strictly speaking I am not a professional. Having said that, I have given it a lot of thought and I think what separates a pro from a good amateur quality wise, is not that the pro will make a better photograph if you place them side by side in front of a subject. It is that the pro will put in the money, time and effort to get to the right place on the right time so as to give him/herself the chance to take a nice photo. While the amateur will not / cannot do that. In any case, I am glad you like the photos ;-).

      1. Beautiful pictures coordinated with sound
